Ace the ACT.

Starting SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29, 2019,
Dr. Al Benthall will teach a six-week seminar
for students taking the ACT on FEBRUARY 8,
2020. Classes will meet on Sundays from
1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Ashton South End,
125 W. Tremont Ave., Charlotte, NC, 28203.

ACT ENGLISH

Simplifies ACT grammar into five basic categories with repeated drills in each, giving students new confidence and mastery of ACT English.

ACT MATH

Breaks down ACT math problems into basic categories and teaches students key strategies for each, including answer substitution (backsolving), number plugin, and strategic guessing.

ACT CRITICAL READING

Shows students how to accelerate reading speed and deepen comprehension through time-tested “smart reading” strategies, as well as how to avoid “trap answers” and zero in on correct answers quickly and efficiently.

ACT SCIENCE

Reveals the underlying patterns of this “Reasoning Test” (yes, this section is more like the Reading section than the Math section!), showing students how to filter information quickly and accurately, as well as how to sort questions by data representation, research summary, and conflicting viewpoints.

ACT ESSAY WRITING

Boosts each student’s ability to compose a first-rate essay, bringing a perfect score within easy reach. By learning to dissect the underlying structure of each prompt, and by mastering the art of writing clean, powerful sentences, each student gains creative command of the ACT Essay. Students also look “behind the scenes” at what really matters to essay test-graders, further enhancing their confidence and competitive edge on the ACT Essay.

REAL CONDITIONS
PRACTICE ACT

Each course includes one REAL CONDITIONS PRACTICE ACT proctored by Dr. Benthall on a Saturday morning from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM approximately two weeks before the real ACT. This test uses authentic ACT testing materials and replicates the real testing environment as closely as possible. Students are then able to diagnose and work through their final “sticking points” before the real ACT.
